Function and Waveform Generators

Function generators (FGs) are versatile waveform sources that generate a triangle-wave using switched current sources and capacitors. Their peaks are detected and used to control switching. A sine-shaper circuit converts triangle-waves to sine-waves. Three basic waveforms are output: triangle, sine, and square. 

Waveform generators (WGs) are sources of waveforms. FGs are analog WGs. Digital WGs use microcomputer or other digital circuitry to synthesize waveforms of various waveshapes. Waveform parameters can be set over the instrument range: frequency, duty ratio, amplitude, and offset.

No major activity is currently being applied to FGs and WGs at present.
